Mr. Lohnert is a Partner at AE Industrial and member of AEI HorizonX, the venture capital platform formed between AE Industrial and The Boeing Company. Prior to joining AE Industrial in 2021, Mr. Lohnert was a founding member of Boeing HorizonX Ventures and managing director leading the venture team responsible for investing and managing the portfolio of over 40 global investments where he was recognized by a leading global corporate venture capital industry group, Global Corporate Venturing Institute, as a Top 10 Emerging Leader in 2020 and a Rising Star in 2018 and 2019 from the over 2,200 firms they track globally. Mr. Lohnert led the investment in Isotropic Systems, Accion Systems, BridgeComm, C360 Technologies, Gamma Alloys, Myriota, Cuberg (acquired by NorthVolt), Agylstor (acquired by Tsecond), and Morf3D (acquired by Nikon). Mr. Lohnert was also a senior strategist responsible for emerging business opportunities, corporate strategy, and mergers & acquisitions and partnerships and program manager and instructor for Boeing’s enterprise strategy training course. Prior to Boeing HorizonX Ventures, Mr. Lohnert was director of energy investments for a private equity group where he invested in the alternative energy, natural gas, and electrical generation sectors, as well as led turnarounds of portfolio investments. He has also held strategy and M&A responsibilities for a specialty chemicals division of a major oil company and while living in Zürich, a global financial services company. Mr. Lohnert was previously on the board of directors of Pasadena Angels, ranked by Forbes as a top ten angel investor group and remains active as an angel investor. He is also a board director for a cleantech startup and was formerly a board director for a financial services firm. Mr. Lohnert received an MBA from the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University where he concentrated in Investment Management and Strategy, and a BS from Ohio State with dual majors in Finance and a Real Estate Finance. Mr. Lohnert has also completed programs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, the Swiss Banking Institute at the University of Zürich, and University of California Haas School at Berkeley.
